‘Tis The Sales Tax Holiday Season

Blog, Indirect Tax July 8, 2011

With summer officially here, consumers in various US states can start looking forward to some tax-free shopping weekends. As in years past, many tax holidays are set to occur in July and August. Several states are having back-to-school sales tax holidays such as Mississippi and Puerto Rico in July; Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa,  Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia in August. Items such as clothing, footwear, computers, backpacks and other school supplies are all potentially tax-free up to certain thresholds. Be sure to check our your state revenue websites for more information on the specific dates and products applicable to the holidays in each state.
