Your Michigan ESA statement and payment of taxes are due by August 15, 2016.  While you have until September 15, 2016 to amend your ESA statement, you will be assessed a penalty of 1% to 5% per week after the August deadline. The penalty can be waived if the statement and payment are submitted no later than the September deadline and it is the eligible claimant’s first year of assessment. Failure to file a certified statement and pay the ESA taxes by October 15, 2016 shall be subject to rescission of your personal property tax exemption.
