San Juan County’s Proposition One: the public safety sales tax was narrowly passed by a vote of 2,788 to 2,476. The sales tax in San Juan County is currently 7.8 percent and will increase to 8.1 percent. The new revenues from the .003 percent tax will be used for public safety and law enforcement. By state law, 40 percent of the revenue will go to the Town of Friday Harbor. These are the vote results as of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday 8 August 2012.
