Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax June 25, 2012

The Portland City Council approved a new hotel tax on June 20th in hopes of increasing out of state tourism into “The City of Roses.”  The new tax will be assessed as an additional 2% fee calculated on gross receipts on all hotels with 50 or more rooms. The new fee is projected to raise approximately $6.6 million in new revenue that will be used by a non-profit organization, Travel Portland, to enhance marketing efforts to increase out of state tourism.
