Rhode Island Tax Amnesty Program

Rhode Islanders who are behind on their state taxes will get a chance to repay their debts without penalty on what they owe during a 75-day tax amnesty period that begins Sunday 2 September 2012. Governor Chafee announced the details of the state’s amnesty program Wednesday. He explained that the amnesty will make it easier for businesses and individuals who fell behind on their taxes during the recession to get repay their debts to the state.‘‘For them, and for others who are delinquent on their state taxes, this is a perfect time to pay what they owe and get a fresh start,’’ Chafee, said in a statement.
