St. Paul Looks For Revenues In Hospitality

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax January 16, 2013

Local legislators in St. Paul, Minnesota are exploring ways to bring in more revenue to pay for the Sanford Center, one of which is by imposing a new 1% tax on patrons with a hospitality tax, which would apply to sales of food and beverages or hotel stays.  Currently, the local Chamber doesn’t seem extremely supportive of the idea, saying they would need more approval from local businesses as well as an attempt to explore other avenues for raising the money needed.  This idea will likely be tossed around for a while, as there is a $400,000 budget already for the Center in 2013.
