On November 8th, the Mayor of Widener, Arkansas is asking voters to approve as much as a 1.75% sales tax, in addition to the 6% state rate.  Widener’s population is only about 300 people, with many residents already living below the poverty line.  Mayor Billingsley says the town is in desperate need of many improvements, and believes that imposing a sales tax is the best way to go about making these improvements, such as fixing the roads.
