Show how your tax department and a key influencer have challenged the status quo and improved the effectiveness of your tax department. We want to hear and share your story, so that other tax departments across the globe can learn from your best practices.

Help us understand how your nominated tax department delivered value to the business, showed clear ROI, and reduced risk in the face of ever-changing regulation through tax department process improvement and the use of technology.

Some stories we'd love to hear:

  1. How using the ONESOURCE Direct Tax suite (including Income Tax and/or Tax Provision) helped your company perform TCJA scenario planning.
  2. Where has the automation of the Determination and Compliance components of the ONESOURCE Indirect Tax Suite been helpful in real-time compliance with jurisdictional taxing authorities for your organization?
  3. How Checkpoint research has added value and helped your team better understand changes to tax law.

In addition to the tax department story, identify the key individual within the tax department who helped lead and drive the process and technology efforts described above. This individual should represent drive, passion, leadership, and subject matter expertise that combines tax and technology to deliver success with the tax department.

Global/Multi-National Corporate Tax Department and Key Individual Contributor (Four Awards)

Show how your global or multi-national tax department and a key influencer/contributor have challenged the status quo and improved the effectiveness of your tax department. We want to hear and share your story, so that other tax departments across the globe can learn from your best practices.

Help us understand how your nominated tax department delivered value to the business, showed clear ROI, and reduced risk in the face of ever-changing regulation through tax department process improvement and the use of technology.

Some stories we'd love to hear:

  1. How statutory reporting in conjunction with Income Tax and/or Tax Provision helped your company maintain regulatory, tax law, and accounting standards compliance on a country-by-country basis, minimizing global tax exposure and audit risk.
  2. How Classifier for Global Trade Management enabled your automotive, oil and gas, or heavy manufacturing company to correctly classify your goods and services duties owed and how free trade agreements resulted in significant cost savings.
  3. How Documenter and Intercompany Agreements enabled more accurate Transfer Pricing by providing documentation reports and ICAs for master files and local files.
  4. How Global Currents included with BEPS Action Manager for International Tax enabled faster, more accurate research.
  5. How Checkpoint research has added value.

Some metrics to cite with your nomination include the best automation of a data collection process, greatest improvement in time to close, global tax department success, quantifiable cost and risk reduction, and meeting new regulatory and compliance demands.

Certified Implementation Partner (One Award)

A Certified Implementer is an individual who works at a firm that is part of the Certified Implementer Program. The award will be given to a Certified Implementer who has mastered the knowledge and use of ONESOURCE and/or Checkpoint to maximize tax function effectiveness at a corporation.

Please provide examples of how the Certified Implementer collaborated with Thomson Reuters and tax department to achieve maximum results. Additionally, please provide a valid CIP certificate as well as quantifiable results achieved such as cost savings, time savings, etc.

Trust Tax Management (One Award)

How has the nominated tax professional or tax department demonstrated excellence by using ONESOURCE to automate the fiduciary tax process from data management to tax filing and tax information reporting? Please explain the process and benefits of how you bridge the data from your trust accounting system and create clear, compliant reporting and documentation. Where possible, also include how AEOI, together with Trust Tax, has helped with taxes for non-resident customers and/or investors.

New Customer of the Year (One Award)

For new customers! Show how your tax department and a key influencer/contributor have challenged the status quo and improved the effectiveness of your tax department. We want to hear and share your story, so that other tax departments across the globe can learn from your best practices.

Tell us how you, your tax department, a team member, or an industry peer has implemented ONESOURCE and/or Checkpoint to successfully transform their original process. Please describe the unique approach taken and provide the quantifiable results achieved such as cost savings, time savings, etc.

Help us understand how your nominated tax department delivered value to the business, showed clear ROI, and reduced risk in the face of ever-changing regulation through tax department process improvement and the use of technology.

Submit a detailed summary that lets us know why your nomination should win an award in the category you selected.

Nominations can be supplemented by supporting documents such as videos, presentations, graphs, etc. Email supporting documents to onesourceuserconference@tr.com.

Winner benefits

You are helping outstanding Taxologists get the recognition they deserve. We will make sure of it by:

  • Unveiling the winners at this year’s SYNERGY conference in Orlando, Florida (November 11-14).
  • Recognizing winners with press and social activities and providing an opportunity for them to share their best practices with the world.
  • Offering a chance for winners to celebrate their successes with their team members when they get home. Winners will receive a luncheon with their tax department and an invitation to an exclusive Future of Tax discussion.

Winners will be able to share the gift of networking and educational experiences with their team. They will receive two free conference passes for SYNERGY 2019 and a one-year subscription to ONESOURCE University for themselves or a colleague.

The Future of Tax discussion will be delivered by a member of the Leadership Team to ensure that the event can be scheduled at a time that works for both parties in 2019. The discussion can be arranged onsite or via video technology to make it easy and accessible for all.


Judging information

A panel made up of industry and Thomson Reuters specialists will review and select winners for each award category after the nomination window closes on September 21, 2018.
