Mark Martukovich, CPA Managing Partner


As the managing partner of FMA, C.P.A., a tax and advisory firm based in Clearwater, FL, Mark Martukovich is building a firm that focuses on matching clients’ tax plans with their short and long-term goals.

Since joining the firm in 2009, Mark had been trying to build a business model that promoted the practice as an advisory firm. However, he struggled with a clear message and delivery method. In 2014, he attended his first Partner Summit, where he was introduced to the Breakthrough Firm concept — and he knew he’d found the model he needed to transform the firm.

He took the next step with the Thomson Reuters Practice Forward offering, becoming one of the first Practice Forward “graduates.” Since then, Mark has been successfully transitioning his firm from a traditional tax practice to a business advisory and accounting firm.

Since 1989, FMA, C.P.A. has been providing tax and accounting services, and (is now) in its fourth year of business advisory services. While the compliance practice has maintained its stronghold in the market, the advisory firm has grown to 30% of overall revenue in just over four years. The two divisions of the firm initially operated as separate entities, but now work together to serve its clients on a forward-thinking level, rather than one that’s focused on client historical results.

As the firm grows, Mark continues to work toward moving out of the practice’s day-to-day operations and expanding his role as a business development officer. A direct benefit of this transition is that he has found more time to devote to the things about which he is passionate.

Mark graduated from The University of Akron with a degree in accounting and is a licensed CPA in Florida and Ohio. 

Therese M. Witherow

Thomson Reuters

As a senior technical consultant with Thomson Reuters, Therese uses her 19 years of experience to provide onsite and web-based training across the country and overseas for UltraTax CS, Fixed Assets CS, FileCabinet CS, Planner CS, and ToolBox CS.

She joined Thomson Reuters in 1999 as a product support representative for UltraTax CS, Fixed Assets CS, and FileCabinet CS, and was also the product lead for UltraTax CS/1040 and e-filing. In 2005, Therese joined the Training, Consulting & Implementation Services team.

This is Therese’s ninth year as a lead presenter at Partner Summits, our most exclusive thought leadership event. She has also presented at many Thomson Reuters SYNERGY users’ conferences, at various profession events, and at firm-sponsored events. Over the years, she has helped thousands of practitioners, in hundreds of firms across the country, better use technology and take advantage of integrated solutions. She has also been involved in product validation testing, On-Demand training development, classroom instructional course materials, and sales seminar content creation.

Therese holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in management from Western Michigan University, and is a CompTIA CTT+ Certified Professional Trainer.

Sonny is the President of Blanchard CPA and Blanchard Wealth Partners in Richmond, TX. Since graduating from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA, Sonny has obtained a wide variety of public accounting experience with clients in many industries and of all sizes. He began his accounting career at a local CPA firm performing tax, accounting, and auditing services for small business owners in Houma, LA. He then moved to Oklahoma City to work at an international firm, where he worked with all levels of management in large oil & gas companies performing audits and preparing GAAP financial statements. He finally moved to Richmond, TX in 2016 and formed Blanchard CPA in order to focus on his passion, helping small business owners and individuals reach their financial goals and achieve success. While growing the CPA firm in the first two years, he was also employed as a Financial Planner at a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm in the Houston area. After growing the CPA firm to a sustainable level and acquiring financial planning and investment management experience, as well as the CFP® credential, Sonny began working on his CPA firm and newly formed independent RIA, Blanchard Wealth Partners, on a full-time basis.

Sonny maintains certification as a Certified Public Accountant, Personal Financial Specialist, and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Texas Society of CPAs, Houston CPA Society, Financial Planning Association, and the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. He is also active in the Central Fort Bend Chamber Alliance and Shriners International.
