E&Y Survey Sees Rising Danger from Computer Threats

Ernst & Young LLP’s 16th annual Global Information Security Survey released on October 29, 2013, said despite the big investments companies are making in computer security, no business is safe from a breach of its corporate technology.

Thirty-one percent of respondents report the number of security incidents within their organization has increased by at least 5% over the last 12 months.

“Cyber-crime is the greatest threat for organizations’ survival today,” said Ken Allan, E&Y’s global leader for information security. “While budget allocations toward security innovation are inching their way up, many information security professionals continue to feel that their budgets are insufficient.”

One of the biggest problems companies face is the shortage of technology specialists with sufficient skill in computer security, E&Y said.
