Customize the File Names of PDF Documents

CS Tax & Asset Management Solutions December 8, 2015

When generating PDF copies of tax returns, extensions and organizers from UltraTax CS, you can now customize the file name of the PDF. In prior-year programs, the file name was automatically generated by UltraTax CS and could not be changed in the program.

To customize the default PDF file name, choose Setup > Office Configuration, click the Print Options tab, and then click the PDF File Options button.

Note: If you have UltraTax CS set to allow user-defined print options, the Print Options tab is located in the Setup > User Preferences dialog.

An example of the file name generated using the selected settings is listed at the bottom of the dialog; this example will change as you choose different selections. Some variables can be removed completely, while others can only be rearranged.

For example, if your Client ID contains sensitive information like a social security number, you can set that variable position to “None” whereas the document name must have a selected position.
