The read-only mode in 2012 and 2013 UltraTax CS has been enhanced to allow read-only access to any client that is open or checked out in the prior-year version of UltraTax CS. This feature will allow you to open any client for read-only access in 2012 or 2013 UltraTax CS, when that client is also opened in a prior-year of UltraTax CS.
In order to open clients in multiple years, you must first use the client status system to limit access to a client’s return in 2012 or 2013 UltraTax CS. This limited access includes a read-only mode that enables staff members to open a return without editing privileges, ensuring that completed tax returns cannot be changed by users or recalculated by the application.
To open returns in read-only view, you must configure a discourage access status event, log that event for the applicable client, and then choose the View client input screen data in read-only mode in the Warning – Status System dialog.
