Devising an Action Plan for Free Shipping Day & Increased Cyber Traffic

Blog, Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE December 17, 2015

In my previous post, I shared insights on transaction volumes and testing as best practices on how to prepare and manage increased cyber traffic during peak seasons. My third best practice step is to devise an action plan.

You’ll need to know what to do if things do not go as planned. Even when you have prepared, tested and validated your systems, things may go wrong. Here are a few things I recommend:

  • Internal communication plan: Know who to contact if there is an issue within your organization and make sure you have access to the people that can fix the issue.
  • External communication plan: Have your service provider contact and support system information available. Also, make sure that the people who are monitoring the system have access and have been setup with an account in case you are not available to help.
  • Quick troubleshooting tips: Your team will need this so they can provide your service provider with the necessary information to resolve issues.
  • Failover Plan: Have a Plan B. Both you and your service provider are responsible for this step so you are ready for issues at any point in the tax call. ONESOURCE Indirect Tax comes with failover and disaster recovery.

Hopefully these tips will help you be better prepared for dealing with increased transaction load during a busy season. Happy holidays, happy selling & and happy Free Shipping Day! Learn more about how ONESOURCE Indirect Tax applications can help!
