Arkadelphia Proposing One Percent A&P Tax

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax October 25, 2011

In an effort to grow revenue, the city of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, is putting up the question of adopting a one percent Advertising and Promotions Tax at their November 3rd board meeting.  This tax, which would apply to mostly packaged foods that are sold in the city, could go into effect as soon as the end of this year.  Some businesses and restaurant owners are displeased that the Board of Directors will be the only ones voting on this issue, and not the public.  If passed, an A&P commission will be set up to promote more tourism within the area and improve existing facilities.
