Droughts have plagued Augusta residents over the past two years.  The current water line that supplies the city with water from El Dorado Lake cannot meet the city’s water needs during times of peak usage.  A project to replace this water is estimated to cost as much as $20 million.  The August city council is considering an additional one percent increase to the city’s sales tax rate.  Any increase must be approved by the voters.
