Georgia Chamber Looks For Approval Of Penny Sales Tax

Indirect Tax, Sales and Use Tax August 25, 2011

Georgia voters will be asked to approve a new multi-billion dollar penny sales tax for various roadway infrastructure projects, as the Chamber of Commerce has already employed campaigners to garner voter support.  The public can expect to see the final list of projects on October 15th that their extra penny will go towards should they approve it.  These lists are grouped by region, with a bipartisan representative assigned to each region.  Should the regional transportation special purpose sales tax — the regional TSPLOST — get simply a majority of each regions approval, the proposal will advance.
