Masachusetts Tax Holiday Approved Last Minute

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax August 8, 2012

Again, Governor Patrick of Massachusetts has taken it down to the wire, signing a bill which allows for a tax free shopping day across the state from August 11th to the 12th.  During these two days, shoppers will not have to pay sales tax on most items they purchase under $2500, excluding restaurant meals and tobacco.  This holiday has occurred in 8 of the last 9 years, aimed to promote shopping within the state around back-to-school time.
