North Dakota Town Breaks Sales Tax Record

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax September 8, 2012

City officials say that Grand Forks has set a new city sales tax collections record for a new monthly record for the highest collection total ever.  The city had over $2 million remitted in the month of August.  This is the highest amount recorded since the inception of sales tax in 1985. Sales tax revenue for the city is over 16 percent higher than the same time last year.  Steadily increasing tax revenue totals are most likely a bi-product of the oil boom that has happened in North Dakota over the past couple of years.
