Ohio Wants To “Educate” Businesses About The Use Tax

The Ohio Department of Taxation has announced the “kick-off” of what it is calling “The Use Tax Education Program” or UTEP for short. The department plans on contacting approximately 380,000 businesses with potential use tax liability to educate them regarding the tax. Under the program financial incentives will be offered to those businesses aimed at encouraging them to pay what they owe. Incentives include a limited look-back period and no penalties.
