San Luis Obispo County’s Version of Keeping Up With the Joneses

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax August 31, 2012

Five of the seven cities in San Luis Obispo County have sales and use tax rates of 7.75%.  Only two remain at 7.25%:  Paso Robles and Atascadero. The higher sales tax rates in their neighboring cities  and Paso Robles’ poor road conditions are encouraging support for a 0.5% sales tax increase in the city.  At least two thirds of voters would have to vote in favor of a ballot measure to increase their city sales and use tax rates in November to increase the city’s sales tax rate to a total rate of 1.5% at the city level.  These funds would be used to improve street conditions throughout the city.
