Zoo Tax for Kansas City?

Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax October 14, 2011

A  1/8 percent sales tax dedicated solely to the Kansas City Zoo will be put to voters in November. The sales tax, if approved, is estimated to generate approximately $1.4 million dollars annually. This money would be used for additional zoo exhibits, including a new one for the big cats and a penguin exhibit.

A recent poll indicated that 4 out of 5 voters view the tax as favorable and to encourage them more, a campaign to enact the sales tax has begun.
