As a Product Specialist at ONESOURCE, I have the opportunity to meet with our clients nationwide and discuss new functionality, best practices, and collect feedback on how to best improve our offerings. The city of Atlanta has been home to some of our earliest clients, as well as some of our most recent implementation successes. It made for a great Atlanta area user group meeting recently, as dozens attended to share their experiences and ask questions about optimizing their tax accounting processes.
I think the biggest takeaway for users is the ability to connect with peers and exchange experiences, benchmark and share issues. These informal discussions serve as an opportunity for clients to lead discussion, ask questions and provide valued feedback.
Of course, one of my favourite aspects of these types of events is showing new functionality and how we have evolved our solutions to make our customers’ lives easier. Between our recent integration strategy and new reporting features, it became clear that our software over the past decade has revolutionized the way our clients look at tax accounting.

The meeting also acts as a direct sounding board to our management and development process. Product-related feedback helps set developments and influences our next steps. It’s just one example of how clients are allowing us to achieve amazing things. Users remarked how intuitive this version is in comparison to older versions, and provided great ideas for the direction of our products going forward.
Based on client feedback, new features in ONESOURCE Tax Provision this year include:
- Improved user experience with a common look and feel offering more flexible user functionality
- Integration with a centralized document management solution for better control of supplemental documentation
- More detailed and flexible audit trail in the system to better navigate the system
- Powerful state functionality includes the ability to automate rate adjustments and forecast rates

Building the foundation for future enhancements:
Issues and enhancements raised from the user group were fully recorded and submitted to product management for consideration. Feedback from our client base is core to our product development plan and these forums provide a platform for users to provide suggestions on necessary improvements.
