Indirect Tax, ONESOURCE, Sales and Use Tax, Transaction Tax November 30, 2012

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (DRS) has released its annual list of legislative proposals, which include:
– Tying all interest rates, either for under- or overpayment, to the IRC;
– Require the collection of sales taxes by cigarette distributors and alcoholic beverage distributors on retail sales;
– Allow the commissioner to impose civil penalties for operating without a sales and use tax permit;
– Prohibiting the issuance of a tax license or permit to any person with an outstanding tax liability; and
– Allowing the Commissioner to disclose returns and return information in a personnel proceeding involving a current or former DRS employee.
