Tennessee Decreases Sales Tax on Groceries

The state of Tennessee will be reducing its sales tax on groceries from 5.5% to 5.25%. Governor Haslam stated that any reduction to help taxpayers is good news, after signing the new tax rate into law.  The reduced tax only applies to food at grocery stores and will not apply to things like candy, alcohol or prepared foods.
