• Accounting Today award recognizes Thomson Reuters focus on client data security
Accounting Today has recognized Thomson Reuters Authenticator™ as the Top New Product of 2019 in the security tools category.
Data security has been a longstanding focus at Thomson Reuters. With cybercriminals specifically targeting tax and accounting firms at increasing rates, it is imperative for software vendors to make data security a priority.
Thomson Reuters has offered the Authenticator mobile app since 2017 for the CS Professional Suite and other software. In 2018, Thomson Reuters launched the Authenticator Display Card, a new MFA technology for additional security. The cards, which are the size of a credit card, allow users to meet a second factor of authentication to gain access to their software by generating a one-time-use code.
“We are laser focused on making sure that we provide our customers with industry-leading solutions that they can trust and rely on. Data security is a very important aspect of that, and I’m happy that our efforts in this area have been recognized. With the Thomson Reuters Authenticator, we are keeping our customers and their clients safe by providing an additional layer of security that fits in any wallet,” said Swati Garodia, Head of Products, Thomson Reuters Tax Professionals business segment.
With cybercrime on the rise, firms should consider MFA essential to security plans. Passwords can be easily stolen or hacked. MFA adds at least one more layer of identity verification to that process. Thomson Reuters Authenticator protects clients from hacking and fraud attempts and provides a user-friendly alternative to the smartphone apps.
Thomson Reuters OnBalance Express was also recognized; it received an honorable mention on Accounting Today’s Top New Products list. OnBalance Express is a cloud-based accounting application that helps small business owners run their businesses from anywhere.
Accounting Today is a resource for public accountants – serving the community of professionals who provide tax preparation, bookkeeping, auditing, financial planning, and business advisory and consulting services to individuals and small businesses.
