• The Stevie Awards are one of the world’s top international business awards
• Program has expanded to now cover U.S., Canada, UK and Ireland

May 1, 2019 – Thomson Reuters was named the winner of a Gold and People’s Choice Stevie® Award in the New Product & Service category in The 17th Annual American Business Awards® today.

The American Business Awards are the U.S.A.’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York on Tuesday, June 11. Tickets are now on sale.

More than 3,800 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Live Event of the Year, and App of the Year, among others.  Thomson Reuters was nominated in the New Product & Service category.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), enacted in December 2017, added a layer of complexity and presented companies with many challenges, both immediately and in the future.  Checkpoint Catalyst: US GAAP – Accounting for Income Taxes was designed to help tax and accounting professionals navigate updated accounting rules and changes in tax laws. Checkpoint Catalyst: US GAAP—Accounting for Income Taxes cross-references to the Thomson Reuters Complete Analysis of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a Thomson Reuters product used by tax experts, to help management and tax specialists have effective discussions about the TCJA and its accounting impact.

Checkpoint Catalyst: US GAAP – Accounting for Income Taxes is organized to help an entity gain a baseline of the requirements (a refresher for seasoned professionals), and then leads the user into more complex territories and unchartered ones introduced by the tax reform. It is designed so that an accountant can have useful conversations with tax experts and specialists. It includes numerous practical illustrations and expert guidance. Detailed analysis and illustrations are embedded directly within the product, clarifying grey areas and reducing the risk that something important is missed.

Judges’ statements included – outstanding entry, fingertip accurate research, and, great new tool to provide online research products that gives practical insight and expertise on accounting topics that are complex and undergoing changes.

“I am so proud of the team who consistently creates award-winning products that provide our customers with premium answers and insights at the highest point of value in their workflow. Our latest Catalyst: US GAAP title on accounting for income taxes is an excellent product that helps our customers navigate the changes introduced by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, as well as, all the decisions and judgments that have to be made when accounting for income taxes,” said Anne-Lise Dorry, senior director of corporate finance products. “I am thrilled that we are getting recognized for it with a Gold Stevie Award,” added Dorry.

More than 200 professionals worldwide participated in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

“The nominations submitted to The 2019 American Business Awards were outstanding.  They illustrate the continued vibrancy of innovation and high level of achievement across the American economic landscape,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards.
