SYNERGY 2013 Highlights

SYNERGY 2013 for our ONESOURCE customers brought together nearly 1300 corporate tax professionals to Miami. Some of the many highlights from a few successful and enlightening days include:

  • Opening presentation by Brian Peccarelli, our President of Tax & Accounting, on the “80/20 Flip”. Customers spend approximately 80% of their time on day-to-day processes and only 20% on strategic, value-added contributions to their business. Our role at Thomson Reuters is to provide the automation and workflow tools that will enable customers to flip that equation.
  • Keynote speaker, Billy Beane, vice president and general manager of Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics and subject of the 2011 film Moneyball, discussed how smart data analysis can drive a winning game plan
  • A panel discussion with representatives from Nike, Ford Motor Co., and more, focused on the future of the corporate tax department including operational challenges, continuous technology enhancements, evolving office environments and how employees are dispersed throughout an organization
  • Breakout sessions – over 400! – ranged from hands-on instruction of ONESOURCE solutions to topical discussions, such as a panel with the UN and the World Bank on transfer pricing in emerging markets
