March is typically a slower month for tax rate changes, and this year did not disappoint. Here is a selection of the tax rate changes effective March 2013:
Rate Changes:
Alabama: Jasper 3.0% (sales & use), 0.75% (agricultural, auto, and manufacturing); Warrior 4.0% (sales & use), 2.0% (agricultural and manufacturing), 1.75% (auto); Warrior Police Jurisdiction 2.0% (sales & use), 1.0% (agricultural and manufacturing), 0.875% (auto).
Arizona:Williams 3.5% (sales tax and rental tax), 0.0% (grocery sales tax), 3.0% (now a separate commercial lease sales tax).
Louisiana: Rayville 0.5%.
Sales Tax Holiday:
Alaska: The city of Kodiak will grant sellers the opportunity to participate in a Tax Free Day on March 2, 2013.
Separate Note:
New York: Madison County and Oneida have repealed their exemptions for sales and use taxes on apparel transactions.
