Employers are reminded of the impending deadline for the EEO-1 report, specifically the Component 1 filing due on July 9, 2024. Failure to comply with this deadline could result in serious repercussions. The published deadline to submit and certify the 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 report was 11:00 pm ET on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) requires certain employers to submit this report annually to provide demographic data on gender, race/ethnicity, and job categories of their employees.

If an employer fails to file the EEO-1 Component 1 report by the July 9 deadline, the EEOC will issue a “Notice of Failure to File.” This notice serves as a formal instruction for the employer to submit their data promptly. Beyond this secondary deadline, which ends on July 9, 2024, the EEOC will not accept any data related to the 2023 reporting period. It is crucial for employers to adhere to the specified timeline to avoid facing penalties or legal actions.

Timely submission of the EEO-1 report is essential for maintaining compliance with federal reporting requirements. The data collected through this report is utilized by the EEOC for various purposes, including enforcement actions, research analysis, and trend evaluation within different industries. Employers must recognize the significance of submitting accurate and complete data within the given timeframe to fulfill their obligations and contribute to equal employment opportunities.
