Effective April 1, 2026, the combined Kansas state and local sales and use tax rates will change in Finney, Jackson, and McPherson Counties. The combined Kansas state and local sales and use tax rates will also change in the Cities of Basehor, Claflin, Garnett, Jetmore, La Harpe, Liebenthal, Lyndon, McLouth, Oakley, Solomon, and Towanda. New special districts have been created in Colby, Great Bend, and Wichita. A special district has been terminated in Wichita. County Changes
Finney County: Effective April 1, 2026, Finney County increases its rate to 1.85%, and the combined state and local sales and use tax rate in the county will increase from 7.8% to 8.3%. The combined state and local sales and use tax rate for Garden City will increase from 8.95% to 9.45%; Garden City 4-A’s Properties CID, from 10.95% to 11.45%; Garden City Campus and Kansas CID, from 9.95% to 10.45%; Garden City Fulton’s Founder’s Brewery CID, from 9.95% to 10.45%; Garden City Plaza CID, from 9.95% to 10.45%; Garden City Plaza II CID, from 10.95% to 11.45%; Garden City Schulman Crossing CID and Sports of the World STAR, from 9.95% to 10.45%; Garden City Sports of the World STAR Bond, from 8.95% to 9.45%; Garden City Sports of the World STAR Bond and Stone Development CID, from 9.95% to 10.45%; Garden City Stone Development, from 9.95% to 10.45%; and Holcomb, from 8.3% to 8.8%.
Jackson County: Effective April 1, 2026, Jackson County increases its rate to 1.65%, and the combined state and local sales and use tax rate in the county will increase from 7.9% to 8.15%. The combined state and local sales and use tax rate for Circleville will increase from 7.9% to 8.15%; Delia, from 7.9% to 8.15%; Denison, from 7.9% to 8.15%; Holton, from 8.65% to 8.9%; Hoyt, from 7.9% to 8.15%; Mayetta, from 9.4% to 9.65%; Netawaka, from 7.9% to 8.15%; Soldier, from 7.9% to 8.15%; and Whiting, from 7.9% to 8.15%.
McPherson County: Effective April 1, 2026, McPherson County increases its rate to 2%, and the combined state and local sales and use tax rate in the county will increase from 8% to 8.5%. The combined state and local sales and use tax rate for Canton will increase from 9% to 9.5%; Galva, from 8% to 8.5%; Inman, from 8% to 8.5%; Lindsborg, from 9.5% to 10%; Marquette, from 9% to 9.5%; McPherson, from 9% to 9.5%; McPherson Candlewood Suites CID, from 11% to 11.5%; McPherson North Champlin Street CID, from 11% to 11.5%; McPherson Plaza East Place CID, from 11% to 11.5%; Moundridge, from 9% to 9.5%; and Windom, from 8% to 8.5%.
City Rate Changes
Effective April 1, 2026, the following cities have increased their combined state and local sales and use tax rates: Basehor, from 8.5% to 9%; Basehor One58 Plaza CID, from 10% to 10.5%; Basehor Wolf Creek Junction CID, from 9.25% to 9.75%; Claflin, from 8% to 8.25%; Garnett, from 8% to 9%; Garnett Guffey Properties CID, from 10% to 11%; Jetmore, from 9% to 10.5%; La Harpe, from 7.75% to 9.25%; Liebenthal, from 6.5% to 8%; Lyndon, from 9% to 9.5%; McLouth, from 7.5% to 8.5%; Oakley (Gove County), from 9% to 10%; Oakley Mittens CID, from 11% to 12%; Oakley (Logan County), from 9% to 10%; Oakley (Thomas County), from 8.75% to 9.75%; Solomon (Dickinson County), from 8.25% to 9.25%; Solomon (Saline County), from 8% to 9%; and Towanda, from 7.5% to 8.5%.
New Special Districts
Effective April 1, 2026, the following special districts are created:
Colby: The City of Colby has created the Colby Arena CID (jurisdiction code COLC2) with a combined rate of 11%.
Great Bend: The City of Great Bend has created the Great Bend Lodging CID (jurisdiction code GREC4) with a combined rate of 10.7%.
Wichita: The City of Wichita has created the Wichita 333 English CID (jurisdiction code WIC19) with a combined rate of 9%.
The City of Wichita has created the Wichita SoCe Corner CID (jurisdiction code WIC20) with a combined rate of 9.5%.
Terminations
Effective April 1, 2026, the City of Kansas City is terminating the Kansas City Metropolitan Avenue CID. Businesses in this jurisdiction will report under the City of Kansas City (jurisdiction code KANWY) and tax rate (9.125%).
Changes to Address Ranges
Effective April 1, 2026, the address ranges for the following have changed: Goddard Olympic Park CID, TDD, &STAR (jurisdiction code GODC1); Kansas City Northwest Speedway (American Royal) STAR Bond 2 (jurisdiction code KAAR2); Kansas City Plaza at Speedway #2 TDD (jurisdiction code KANT6); Lawrence Free State TD (jurisdiction code LAWTD); Lawrence KU Gateway CID (jurisdiction code LAWC3); and Lawrence KU Gateway CID and STAR (jurisdiction code LAWC2).
