Kansas Announces Sales and Use Tax Rate Changes Effective July 1, 2025

Effective July 1, 2025, the combined Kansas state and local sales and use tax rates will change in the Cities of Abilene and Lyndon. New special districts have been created in Garden City, Mission, Overland Park, Roeland Park, and Topeka. The Department is also reminding taxpayers that effective January 1, 2025, the state sales tax rate for food and food ingredients changed. City rate changes.

Effective July 1, 2025, the following cities have increased their combined state and local sales and use tax rates: Abilene, from 9% to 9.35%; Abilene Family Dollar CID, from 11% to 11.35%; Abilene Holiday Inn Express CID, from 11% to 11.35%; Abilene Legacy Kansas CID, from 11% to 11.35%; Abilene Property 6 CID, from 11% to 11.35%; and Abilene Roserock Holdings CID, from 11% to 11.35%.

Effective July 1, 2025, the City of Lyndon decreases its combined state and local sales and use tax rate from 9.5% to 9%.

New special districts.

Effective July 1, 2025, the following special districts are created:

Garden City: The City of Garden City has created the Garden City 4-A’s Properties CID (jurisdiction code GARC7) with a combined rate of 10.95%.

Mission: The City of Mission has created the Mission Mart CID (jurisdiction MISC4) with a combined rate of 10.725%.

Overland Park: The City of Overland Park has created the Overland Park Stanley Square CID (jurisdiction code OVC23) with a combined rate of 10.35%.

Roeland Park: The City of Roeland Park has created the Roeland Park The Rocks CID (jurisdiction code ROEC2) with a combined rate of 11.355%.

Topeka: The City of Topeka has created the Topeka South Topeka CID (jurisdiction code TOPC9) with a combined rate of 10.35%.

Terminations.

Effective July 1, 2025, the city of Overland Park is terminating the Overland Park Oak Park Mall CID. Businesses in this jurisdiction will report under the City of Overland Park (jurisdiction code OVEJO), and tax rate (9.35%).

Changes to address ranges.

Effective July 1, 2025, the address ranges for the following have changed: Kansas City Homefield STAR Bond (KANHF); Kansas City Homefield STAR Bond & Homefield CID (KANHC); and Wichita River District Stadium STAR Bond (WICRD).
