2020 has pressed the fast-forward button on many of our “future” plans. Remote work and cloud technologies became instant necessities, and our new way of working shed light on common challenges around data, systems, and processes.

The global pandemic and current economic downturn have created a perfect storm for disaster fraud, a type of financial crime that typically occurs after a catastrophe or event like COVID-19. There are three basic elements to the "fraud triangle" – pressure, opportunity, and rationalization – all of which exist in the current financial climate. 

It seems like obvious inequity and bias are no longer being brushed under the rug. For the first time in history, large corporations are creating entire teams within their organizations dedicated to improving diversity and inclusion within their ranks. Smaller firms are asking what they can do with limited resources. 

It’s hard to believe there are only four months remaining in 2020. Less than one year ago it would have been equally hard to believe that in the past eight months we would face a few nearly unimaginable global challenges. A global health pandemic, economic instability, and confronting systemic racism and bias.

Attracting and retaining new talent has been a hot topic for a few years, and for very good reasons. We hate to point fingers, but the profession is aging (*cough* we are too) and new talent is a great way to start preparing your succession plan or exit strategy.  

Working from home is the new normal for many of us due to COVID-19. But sometimes it feels anything but normal. Along with the stress and worry about the effects of the pandemic itself, many of us struggle with how to manage complete work-life integration.
