    In addition to writing for the Federal Tax Update by Thomson Reuters, Michael is frequently quoted in the press. Michael holds a Juris Doctor from the Boston University School of Law and a LL.M in Taxation from New York University Law School. A member of the New York Bar, he has over 20 years of tax experience, including service with a major Wall Street bank and international law firms. In addition, he has represented clients before the IRS. Michael’s specialties include individual taxation, U.S. tax compliance for foreign taxpayers, and retirement planning.

    Deborah holds both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Law from Chicago-Kent College of Law and is a member of the Illinois Bar. Before working at Thomson Reuters, Deborah worked as a sole practitioner representing individuals and businesses in tax controversy matters before the IRS and the Tax Court. Her specialties include individual and small business compliance and planning.

    Debbie specializes in Checkpoint’s payroll publications, including Payroll Guide, the go-to federal, state, and local payroll resource covering tax, wage and hour, unemployment, and wage payment. She is also a co-author of Taxation of Benefits, the Federal and State Wage and Hour Compliance Guide, and the Employer’s Guide to Garnishments. Finally, Debbie is one of the content managers of Create-a-Chart, our state tool that allows users to generate charts on various payroll topics. 

    Her 20+ years of payroll experience includes direct payroll management and working for a national third-party payroll processor. She has presented several webinars on various payroll topics and presented at the American Payroll Association’s Capital Summit.

    She holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University and attended Rutgers School of Law. Debbie is a Certified Payroll Professional and a member of the APA’s Government Taskforce.
