June 15—Ways & Means announces markup of health care bills.

The House Ways and Means Committee has announced that it had scheduled eight bills for markup on June 15, some of which contain tax changes, including:

…H.R. 5447, the “Small Business Health Care Relief Act,” which would amend to provide an exception from certain group health plan requirements for qualified small employer health reimbursement arrangements;
…H.R. 5458, the “Veterans TRICARE Choice Act,” which would amend to “provide for coordination between the TRICARE program and eligibility for making contributions” to a health savings account (HSA);
…H.R. 5445, which would amend t to “improve the rules” with respect to HSAs by, among other things, allowing both spouses to make catch-up contributions to the same HSA and increasing the maximum contribution limit to HSAs;
…H.R. 210, the “Student Worker Exemption Act of 2015,” which would amend to exempt student workers for purposes of determining a higher education institution’s employer health care shared responsibility; and
…H.R. 3590, the “Halt Tax Increases on the Middle Class and Seniors Act,” which would repeal the increase in the income threshold (from 7.5% to 10%) for determining the medical care deduction under .
